Hyderabad: Staff crunch in Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is leading to delay in execution of major projects including Master Plan, Land Regularisation Scheme (LRS). Besides, some projects have been put on hold. According to HMDA Commissioner, the department has only 40 per cent of the required staff.

HMDA covers a jurisdiction of about 7,257 square kms which has 70 mandals. But it has only 40 per cent staff in its departments. Major projects of HMDA like Master Plan, LRS, Development Permission Management System (DPMS), work on Outer Ring Road (ORR), registration of Uppal Bhagath plots, and other development activities have been delayed due to shortage of staff.

A senior HMDA official said that due to shortage of employees in some areas they were facing problems and the works were getting delayed.

Due to the staff crunch many works and projects have been delayed, says another official. ``For the past 8 months, I am handling four posts in HMDA. Earlier there was enough staff, but now the work pressure has been increased manifold”, the official added.
