Hyderabad: According to Hyderabad Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (H-UMTA) Act, all the departments related to transportation in the State (including Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), Metro Rail, TSRTC, Road Transport Authority (RTA) and others) have to pay 0.25 per cent of the revenue generated by them to Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the amount would be used for research work and to conduct study of various projects in Hyderabad Metropolitan Area (HMA).

However, the HMDA officials claim that they have not received the amount from the organisations for the past four months.

Besides this, 0.25 per cent of the annual revenue collected from parking, advertising, traffic penalties, cess on vehicle registration charges, cess on fuel, additional registration charges and other transportation modes should also be deposited into HMDA’s account.

A senior HMDA official said that all the transportation departments have to pay 0.25 per cent of amount; but HMDA has not received the amount because of which there is a delay in research and study for future projects related to HMA.

Meanwhile, during the 11th H-UMTA meeting which was held on February 10, 2017 it was proposed that the parking fees and amount collected through penalties in HMA area should be deposited to HMDA to utilise to maintain traffic signals and other traffic requirements.
