Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University on Thursday honoured Mrs. Sameera Khan, mother of Muzammil Khan, who has topped the All India Service examination in Telangana this year, for her giving “hope, encouragement and confidence” to her son in his years of struggle to come out successful in his endeavour to join the Indian civil service.

“My mother has been my pillar of strength who knew when I needed help, consolation or encouragement. I appeared four times for the civil service examination and finally I got what I had dreamed and struggled for because of my mother, father and my brother and sister,” he said speaking with aspirants for the civil services at Civil Services Examination Coaching Academy of MANUU.

Muzammil Khan, who will start training for his IAS job in Telangana State later this month, is the son of A K Khan, retired IPS officer and present Advisor to the State government on Minority Affairs.

Sameera Khan stated that mother plays a key role in laying foundation at least till boy or girl reaches the age of eight or ten. From there on their grooming is taken over by the fathers. “Let me share with you that Muzammil is caring young man who is greatly concerned about the inequalities among people. He wants to play a key role in helping the society come out of its harmful practices,” she said.

Dr Shakeel Ahmad, Pro Vice-Chancellor of MANUU, honoured the mother and son by presenting beautiful flower plants.
