Hyderabad: Vice-President-elect M Venkaiah Naidu has strongly opposed the practice of hereditary politics in some political organisations in the country for decades.

Participating in a get together with scribes here on Wednesday, he said every political aspirant in the existing families with a big political ground should develop on his or her own. One could emerge as a strong political leader not through hereditary but because of their leadership qualities only.

Venkaiah made it clear that he did not encourage either his son or daughter as heir apparent in the next generation politics. His offsprings were given freedom to select their own interested fields and pursue the same as career. If any of his children are interested to take a plunge into politics in future, he said he would not discourage but insist them to develop on their own. Leaders who maintained rapport with people directly would achieve success early in politics.

The Vice President elect said in his 45 year political career, his regular tours, constant book reading and interaction with journalists helped him to emerge as national leader and reached pinnacle in the Indian politics. He visited all 624 districts in the country and acquainted socio and political knowledge in every region.

Now Venkaiah Naidu is studying the working style of his predecessors like Sarvepalle Radhakrishna, Hidayatullah etc and knowing his responsibilities to perform his duties as India’s 14th vice president in the next five years. Venkaiah regretted over his cut off to active politics permanently after getting elected to the India’s second highest constitutional post.
