Secunderabad: One of the most famous computer markets in Secunderabad, well known for its assembled computer sales and services, Chenoy Trade Centre (CTC) has been gradually losing its quality of work and demand among the public. Once what used to be a perfect place to assemble computers in the early 90s, today it lacks experts and is considered a congested market with poor maintenance and customer service.

Moreover, the place is falling behind in the competition with e-markets and online stores which provide better service and options.Despite hundreds of people visiting CTC every day for purchasing assembled computers, customers in recent times have been complaining a lot about the services provided at the market.

While the customers visit the place with a certain brand and a product in their mind, sales personnel try to sell a different brand at a cheaper price which the customers may not be aware of.

Rishi (26), a gaming enthusiast recently assembled a personal computer at CTC and was annoyed by the continuous nagging from the sales personnel to prefer a combination he was not sure of. “I had referred combinations online and was prepared to assemble a computer I had in my mind. Yet, the guy from the store kept requesting me to buy the same product by another brand I wasn’t aware of. He was willing to sell it at a way cheaper price than the brand I was looking for.”

Yeshwant (27), had a similar experience where he planned to assemble a personal computer (PC) with an 8 GB RAM (Random Access Memory) by IBM but instead was suggested to use a local brand which came at a much cheaper price. He said the computer’s display started giving trouble within a month and he had to struggle with the warranty period for the next whole year. “I kept visiting CTC for five months replacing the same RAM until the warranty period of 1 year expired.

My computer hasn’t been working since then and I will have to buy a new RAM now if I want it to work.” He said.
Despite these complaints, one of the sales personnel from a renowned store in CTC said not every store had the same policy and the place still sold the most up-to-date and high-end computers which people would not be able to find anywhere else in the city.

“The place is still loved by the people who have a clear idea about assembling a computer. It is still better than e-markets as with electronics, everyone wants to see the product and feel it before they buy them.” Nitin Lawrence (28), who assembled a computer from CTC last year said.
