GHMC gets 11K tree guards from sponsors

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Thursday said the civic body had procured 11,000 tree guards under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from various sponsors to safeguard the trees under Haritha Haram programme.

The Commissioner also stated that maximum number of sponsors will participate in maintenance of traffic islands, central medians, green ways, green curtains etc., under CSR.

He said each green brigadier should consists of 51 members and asked educational institutions to form green brigadiers with NCC/NSS students with class VII to class X students as members.

At a meeting held here, it was decided to develop an action plan for development of parks on priority basis. The status report on the same should be submitted monthly.

CN Raghu Prasad, Additional Commissioner (Urban Biodiversity), BV Gangadhar Reddy, Zonal Commissioner, East Zone, Srinivas Reddy, Zonal Commissioner, South Zone, JShankaraiah, Zonal Commissioner, North Zone, V Damodar, Director (Urban Biodiversity), all the Deputy Directors, Urban Biodiversity, GHMC and all the managers of Urban Biodiversity, GHMC were present in the review meeting.
