The TSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) received the National Public Transport Excellence (NPTE) award 2017 for its ‘Vajra’ bus services under commuter friendly initiatives from Union Transport and Highways Ministry in New Delhi on Friday.

Hyderabad: The TSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) received the National Public Transport Excellence (NPTE) award 2017 for its ‘Vajra’ bus services under commuter friendly initiatives from Union Transport and Highways Ministry in New Delhi on Friday.

TSRTC MD G V Ramana Rao received the award from Additional Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Leena Nandan and Joint Secretary Abhay Damle in a function held in New Delhi on Friday. The award contains trophy, Appreciation certificate, cash award of Rs 5 lakh.

To provide hassle free inter-city travel experience, to reduce the burden of travel within the cities and to provide bus facility nearest to their residence, TSRTC had started ‘Vajra’ Mini AC buses in th State with the motto ‘service at doorstep’. These services provide the first mile and last mile connectivity by picking up the passengers near to their place of residence/place of choice in the originating city and dropping at their place of choice in the city at other end.

According to the TSRTC officials, introduction of Vajra bus was the first of its kind in the country towards new generation inter-city travel embodying the concept of service at door step, online and mobile app based booking and digital transactions.
