Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is determined to build irrigation projects and provide irrigation to one crore acres in the State, said Minister for Agriculture Pocharam Srinivas Reddy here on Saturday. The State government remained resolute despite the envious Opposition creating hurdles.

Addressing a media conference at TRS Legislature Party office along with MLC K Prabhakar, the Minister said the Congress is scared of bleak prospects and that is why it is creating hurdles to the progress of the State. The KCR government would provide a separate budget for agriculture next year and give Rs 4,000 per acre towards farm investment.

The previous government had cornered the funds meant for the projects without completing them and taken up canal works under Pranahitha project without required permission. “We would complete all the projects left incomplete by the previous governments and provide water for 13 lakh acres in North Telangana, Srinivas Reddy.

The SRSP revival scheme would help irrigate crops in Warangal, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad. During this rainy season about 255 tmcft water had gone waste into the sea and there was no single drop of water in Godavari basin, he said and attributed it to the inefficiency and failure of a plan to complete the projects.
