Khammam: The trial run of the Palair canal under Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) Left Canal has been successfully conducted on Saturday.

It may be noted here that with the special interest taken by the Minister for Roads and Buildings Tummala Nageswara Rao, the Rs 70 crore modernisation works of Nizam-era Palair canal, which almost fell defunct for the last few decades, have been completed in just around four months.

The modernisation of the canal will necessitate irrigation facility to at least 21,000 acres in Kusumanchi and Nelakondapally mandals. NSP superintending engineer Saibaba, executive engineer Venkateswarlu, Deputy EE Manmadha Rao, AE B Ramesh and MSR Constructions managing director M Srinivas Reddy were among others present.
