Luv Hyd to be shifted to Lumbini Park
Citing accidents and traffic congestion, the State government has instructed Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to shift \'Luv Hyd\' sculpture from Tank Bund to Lumbini Park. According to traffic police, as many as 30 road accidents had been reported in the area since November last. Hyderabad: Citing accidents and traffic congestion, the State government has instructed Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to shift 'Luv Hyd' sculpture from Tank Bund to Lumbini Park. According to traffic police, as many as 30 road accidents had been reported in the area since November last. Besides this, officials also said the sculpture would come in the way of deploying cranes during the Ganesh immersion.
According to sources in HMDA, the State government has decided to relocate the 'Luv Hyd' sculpture in Lumbini Park. Citizens can freely click selfies with the tallest National Flag on banks Hussainsagar lake in the background.
The Hussainsagar Lake police told The Hans India that 'Luv Hyd' sculpture had also come to be known as a suicide spot. In less than six months lake police had rescued more than 10 persons who had attempted to commit suicide.
The severe traffic congestion has been posing a serious problem in the area during peak hours as citizens are taking selfies after parking vehicles on the busy road. In order to avoid traffic congestion and minimise suicides, the lake police requested the government to shift sculpture to Lumbini Park.
A senior HMDA official said, besides relocating 'Luv Hyd' sculpture, the HMDA has also decided to develop landscaping and install grills at an estimated cost of Rs 48 lakh for 70th Independence Day. He said the HMDA would also construct staircase around the flag.
