Hyderabad: Leaders of all opposition parties and TJAC called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Monday and demanded immediate action on police brutality and atrocities against Dalits and others in Nerella village of Siricilla Rajanna district.

"We the leaders of all political parties and TJAC in Telangana wish to bring to your kind notice the continued atrocities by TRS government against Dalits and Tribals in Telangana state. In electoral voting share, we represent 66% of the voting of 2014 elections while those in government represent 34% share," said the opposition leaders in their representation submitted to the Governor.

The delegation comprised of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy (Assembly) and Shabbir Ali (Council), Telangana TDP President L. Ramana, Working President A. Revanth Reddy, Telangana BJP President Dr. K. Lakshman, TJAC Chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram, CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy, Telangana BJP General Secretary Sambamurthy and other leaders.

Giving complete details of the Nerella incident in chronological order, the opposition leaders said that so far no cases have been booked against sand contractors for the deaths caused due to accidents by their lorries which claimed many lives. No enquiry has been initiated by the government on police brutalities and no cases have been booked under the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the SP, his staff and police officials who have committed the atrocities on SCs, they said.

"In KCR's Bangaru Telangana, it appears that the lives of Dalits have less value than that of sand mafia lorries. There is a huge sand mafia running now in Telangana with all sand mining contracts given to family members and relatives of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. To protect the sand mafia, a reign of terror is being unleashed on Dalits, Tribals and BCs. At the behest of sand mafia contractors related to KCR, his son and IT minister K. Tarakarama Rao, Dalits and BCs were subjected to the worst form of police brutality and 3rd degree torture by Sircilla police. If KTR has no personal interest in sand mafia, why is the SP of Sircilla being protected despite irrefutable evidence of SP being directly involved in torture of Dalits?" they alleged.

They urged the Governor to direct Director General of Police Anurag Sharma to take cognizance of the case and direct the police officials to register cases under SC ST POA Act against the SP and the police officials who have tortured. They demanded that an independent enquiry should be initiated and provide proper compensation and protection to the victims and their family members.
