During the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 AM on Sunday, the Southwest monsoon has weakened over the Telangana State. Rain occurred at a few places, with Golkonda in Hyderabad district recording 4 cm and Boath (Adilabad) and Nagareddipet (Nizamabad) receiving 3 cm each, the Met department bulletin said.

Hyderabad: During the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 AM on Sunday, the Southwest monsoon has weakened over the Telangana State. Rain occurred at a few places, with Golkonda in Hyderabad district recording 4 cm and Boath (Adilabad) and Nagareddipet (Nizamabad) receiving 3 cm each, the Met department bulletin said.

Rainfall of 2 cm each was received in Narayankhed (Medak), Saroornagar (Rangareddy), Hyderabad Airport, Sangareddy (Medak) and Utnoor (Adilabad). Rainfall of I cm each was recorded in Rajendranagar, Bhiknur, Ramayampet, Medak, Mahabubabad, Yacharam, Lingampet, Banswada, Pitlam, Khammam Urban, Adilabad, Nagarkurnool, Hakimpet IAF station, Medchal, Kotagiri, Sarangapur, Rudrur, Kampasagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad and Tadwai.

The bulletin also warned of heavy rains at isolated places in all the districts of the State on August 16 and 17 because of the upper air cyclonic circulation over coastal Tamil Nadu and its neighbourhood. Also, an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over the southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts. The trough from Odisha to south Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra is persisting.

The forecast said light to moderate rainfall/thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few/many places over Telangana during the next two days.
