Hyderabad: The flyovers and multi-grade separators, which are under construction, will be completed by next year, according to city Mayor Bonthu Rammohan.

Addressing the Independent Day celebrations here on Tuesday, organised at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) headquarters, the Mayor said flyovers, multi-grade separators and underpasses were under construction and most of them would be completed by next year.

“For various reasons, the real estate sector has not been doing well in some major cities, but in Hyderabad, the real estate sector has been making rapid progress,” he said. The government, he said, was planning to construct walking tracks and parks and steps were taken to establish and maintain forest zones. For this purpose, 45,000 acres of forest land on the suburbs had been identified and actions were being taken for its protection, he said.

Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, who also addressed the gathering, said sanitation and other infrastructure development in the city had improved. He said the city got the first rank among other metro cities in Swachh Bharat Survey last year.

GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy said installation of light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs across the city would be completed within three months. He said the GHMC had embarked on replacement of conventional electrical bulbs with the LED light on a large-scale. As many as 60,000 LED bulbs would be installed, he said.
