A five-day photo exhibition, PIXEL was organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication here at Osmania University. The exhibition was inaugurated on Wednesday by the Vice Chancellor Prof S Ramchandram. A collection of 210 photographs that showcase the history, infrastructure and visionaries of Osmania University, are on display at Arts Collegeof the university.

Hyderabad: A five-day photo exhibition, PIXEL was organised by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication here at Osmania University. The exhibition was inaugurated on Wednesday by the Vice Chancellor Prof S Ramchandram. A collection of 210 photographs that showcase the history, infrastructure and visionaries of Osmania University, are on display at Arts Collegeof the university.

The photographs have been categorised into five themes: A peep into the past, Jewels of Osmania, Cogs and Wheels, Written Word and Visionaries of Osmania. Rare black-and-white photographs of the Nizam laying the foundation stone for the University, the Nizam’s Royal family and photographs showing the construction of Arts College and other University buildings form the special attraction of the exhibition, many of which have been sourced from the Emanuel Studio, shot by photographer the late CA Emanuel.

Photographs of special ‘firmans’ issued during the Nizam’s time, sourced from the State Archives and rare photographs of the University founder, the seventh Nizam, Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan sourced from the Nizam’s Museum have been opened for public viewing.

A set of contemporary photographs of the impressive structures that form an important part of Osmania infrastructure shot by ace photographer Lenny Emanuel are also on display.

Shots of the aesthetic engravings and designs of the interiors of Arts College taken by students of the Mass Communication Department, pictures of the British Residency that presently house Koti Women’s College, and pictures of Nizam College are on show.

The VC congratulated the faculty, students and all those who contributed to organising the exhibition. “The entire history and evolution of the University can be visualised through this photo collection,” he said.
