Hyderabad: Special Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Ranjeev R Acharya lauded the ‘PIXEL,’ photo exhibition which is currently under way at Arts College at Osmania University.

In her remarks in the visitors’ diary, she said, “It was a real and rare honour to have seen such outstanding photographs of an era bygone. All those connected with this effort deserve all our praise.”

Collegiate and Technical Education Commissioner A Vani Prasad, who was also present, appreciated the visual documentation of history.

Prof K Stevenson, Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, explained the importance of various exhibits.

Arts college received a steady stream of visitors and students from various colleges. The visitors were overawed by the breath-taking pictures and complimented the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication which organised the exhibition.

“It gave me an insight into history, culture and the majestic architecture of Osmania,” student said. Visitors were curious even as Anuradha Reddy, noted historian, explained the history and the intricacies of the architecture and lauded the architects and craftsmen of Nizam era.

The portraits of the exhibition give us a glimpse of the vision of Nizam towards education and culture. “The photographs are a feast to the eye and explain the history of Osmania University. I am happy to learn several things about Osmania. Pictures reflect Nizam’s taste and his dedication towards culture,” said Anjaneyulu, a visitor.

Some visitors felt that more photographs of eminent scholars of OU, while receiving honorary Doctorates from University, would also further enrich the collection. To sum up, several people echoed that the exhibition was good.
OU Vice Chancellor Prof S Ramachandram, Registrar Prof Ch Gopal Reddy, Dean (Student Affairs) Prof P Lakshmi Narayana, Arts College Principal Prof T Krishna Rao were also present.
