Hyderabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee Chairman Prof M Kodandaram here on Thursday accused the State government of failing to implement the Tenant Farmers’ Protection Act. It led to a number of farmers committing suicide.

Participating in Praja Darbar organised by Rythu Swarajya Vedika at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Prof Kodandaram said the tenant farmers were denied farm loans because they were not given loan eligibility cards. Gross injustice was done to the families of the farmers who committed suicide due to debt burden. The families faced distress as justice was not done in payment of ex gratia.

Akhila Bharata Kisan Sabha vice-president Sarampally Malla Reddy, retired IAS officer Gopala Rao, people’s organisations leaders Seetha Mahalaxmi, Jeevan Kumar and others participated in the programme. Farmers, who participated in the programme, narrated their experiences at the field level. Prof Kodandaram assured the farmers that the TJAC would fight for their rights.
