Hyderabad: Old habits die hard! Political parties think of makeover of their party offices only when they are in power. The offices of two ruling parties - the TRS and BJP - have undergone a major overhaul recently giving swankier look.

Coincidentally, the overhaul comes only when the parties are either in power or while sharing the power. The Telangana BJP had renovated its office Shyama Prasad Mukharjee Bhavan giving a new look and `Ganapati Homam’ was performed on Thursday.

The party had taken up renovation in the first and the third floors of the building. The chambers of party president K Laxman in the first floor was given a new look and new furniture was made available for all the wings of the party. Apart from these, there is a provision of video and teleconference halls, dormitory type of hall for the accommodation of national leaders during their visit to city.

The office of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Telangana Bhavan too got facelift. Entire Bhavan was being renovated right from the main hall at the entry point to the chamber of the party president K Chandrashekar Rao, media room, conference hall and other places with a cost of Rs 2 crore.

The conference hall has been built like a modern convention hall, where electronic display boards have been arranged. These display boards would help the leaders to know when would the Chief Minister make a power point presentation on government programmes. The area outside the Bhavan has also been refurbished with greenery.

Political analysts however argue that the renovations come only during the party comes to power. They pointed out that State BJP office was constructed while NDA government was in power. Similarly, the TRS Bhavan at Banjara Hills was also constructed when TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao was a minister in the UPA government in 2006, said a political analyst.
