Hyderabad: Depressed over lack of activity, a retired sub-inspector of police committed suicide.

According to Rajender Nagar police, the deceased, M. Janardhan Rao, 63, resorted to the extreme step by hanging to the ceiling at his residence in HUDA Colony on Thursday night. He had retired as sub-inspector about four-and-a-half years ago. However, he was reportedly upset over lack of any activity since retirement and the same is suspected to have driven him to suicide.

In another case, Vijaya Rama Rao, 35, committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling at his residence in Uppariguda on Thursday night. He was an employee of a private firm. He was upset as his parents were unable to find a suitable match for his marriage. He took the extreme step while he was alone at home last night, according to Madannapet police.

In a different case, K. Shobhachand, 34, a teacher of East Godavari district, was found dead in a room of Sitara Lodge near Secunderabad Railway Station on Thursday. Enquiries by Market Police revealed that Shobhachand had accumulated huge debts at his native place and had come to the city on August 8. He is suspected to have consumed some unknown poison at his hotel room. Financial crisis is suspected to be the reason behind suicide.
