Hyderabad: Three Kashmiri students hailing from Jammu and Kashmir studying engineering in the City have been arrested on the charge of showing `disrespect’ to the National Anthem in a theatre. They are studying in a private college at Chevella on the outskirts of the City. On Saturday, they had gone to watch a Hindi movie at a theatre at Attapur. The management of the theatre lodged a complaint with the police, stating that the three persons did not stand up when the National Anthem was played when all others in the cinema hall were standing.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shamshabad Zone) P V Padmaja and Rajendra Nagar police, the three youngsters, Omer Fiaz Luney, Mudabir Shabbir and Zaminugal were arrested on charge of showing disrespect to the National Anthem. They were booked under section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act of 1971.
