Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy has congratulated Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for the conferring of Agriculture Leadership - 2017 award by the Indian Council for Food and Agriculture (ICFA).

Addressing a press conference at TRS Legislature Party office on Sunday, Pocharam said no Chief Minister of erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh got this prestigious award. He said that the award was a matter of pride for entire Telangana. He said he was fortunate to be a member of KCR cabinet and proud of holding the portfolio of Agriculture. He said KCR was selected for the award in just three years of rule.

Pocharam said that the KCR Government has helped lakhs of farmers by waiving off their crop loans to the tune of over Rs. 17,000 crore. Further, he said that the government would provide input subsidy of Rs. 8,000 per acre to all the farmers from next year onwards. He said that the scheme was unique and never implemented by any government in the world. He said that the government was also preparing to provide 24x7 power supply to farmers from next year onwards.

The minister said that KCR was the best choice for the award. He advised opposition parties to stop criticising the Chief Minister and play a constructive role.
