Hyderabad: State Department of Horticulture and Sericulture will organise a five-day Telangana Udyana Mahothsavam between August 27 and 31 at People’s Plaza on Necklace Road in city. Commissioner of Horticulture L Venkatrami Reddy said the five-day horticulture exhibition-cum-festival would showcase the horticulture wealth of the State.

Besides, it would also give public a view on the opportunities available for the prospective farmers, entrepreneurs in the horticulture sector.

He said the focus of attention of the festival is to attract the visitor groups like growers, breeders, bulk buyers, retail and whole sale businesspersons, corporate sector, traders, importers, exporters, horticulture entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in the horticulture sector.

Also, farmers, planters and gardeners, students from schools, colleges and universities, farming enthusiasts and NGOs are expected to visit in large numbers the festival.

That apart, resource persons from different institutions will also provide guidance to those interested to grow horticulture crops in the State. The exhibition section in the festival will have stalls of supplier of seeds and seedlings, plant material suppliers and nurseries, suppliers of horticulture tools and equipment. Besides, micro irrigation and polyhouse manufacturing companies, Central and State research institutions and universities would also take part in the festival, he said.

Prospective horticulture farmers will have an opportunity to meet promoters of organic farming, medicinal and aromatic products, Ikebana and Bonsai practitioners, landscape professional, spices and condiments.

Financial institutions would take part in the festival to provide information about the loan products to start horticulture units. Similarly, adding value addition to the horticulture products and suppliers of packaging, decorating and accessories and will also takes part in the exhibition section of the festival, he said.
