Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu said under the Haritha Haram phase III programme, HMDA has planted 51.588 lakh sapling out of 1.10 crore saplings allotted. He added the department has handed over the plantation to around 14 contractors, but the plantation on main carriage way on ORR would be taken up by HMDA officials.

He added the department has handed over the plantation to around 14 contractors, but the plantation on main carriage way on ORR would be taken up by HMDA officials.

According to HMDA official till August 20 as many as 51.588 lakh saplings have been planted at Outer Ring Road (ORR), Musi river in front of Uppal Bagyath, Lakes under HMDA, avenue plantation on radial roads for 100 km, HMDA layouts , road medians, flyovers and distributed some saplings to village panchayaths. The major part of plantation has been taken up on the stretch of ORR and would achieve the target of planting 1.10 crore saplings by September.
