Clay idols favoured for Ganesh festival

Medak: Clay Ganesh idols are selling like hot cakes in Medak town. The idols which are priced between Rs 45 and Rs 1,000 are being preferred by children, who want to celebrate an eco-friendly festival.

"We have procured around 400 idols of all sizes from Maharashtra. Though they are a little expensive for clay idols, people are showing more interest in these idols which are no less attractive than plaster of paris (POP) idols. We used to sell POP idols till last year, but we are only selling clay idols this year," said Ravi, a retailer who sells clay idols.
