South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav undertook a comprehensive safety inspection at Hyderabad Railway Station on Thursday.

Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav undertook a comprehensive safety inspection at Hyderabad Railway Station on Thursday.

He also participated in the Cleanliness Drive as part of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada Abhiyan at the Station. Amit Vardhan, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and other Senior Officials from the Division and Headquarters joined the General Manager during the inspection.

Vinod Kumar Yadav commenced the safety inspection at Hyderabad Station by undertaking a firsthand check of the track maintenance practices and interacted with the Engineering staff including the trackmen etc., to understand their work schedule. He checked the Roll-In Examination process, during which the maintenance staff of Mechanical Department who check the entire train for any deficiency during run, so as to take immediate remedial action. Later, he visited the Signalling Cabin at the Station and analysed the technical advancement of the Signalling equipment thoroughly. He went to Crew Lobby and interacted with the Train Running Staff and exhorted them to adhere to the Safety norms in detail.

The General Manager inspected the Coaching Depot at Hyderabad, where he was briefed on the Coach Maintenance schedule in implementation. The Staff of the Depot exhibited their own commitment to Safety by presenting a skit to highlight the need for total adherence to Safe running of trains. This was followed by a seminar at the Depot, which was chaired by the General Manager.

During the visit, Vinod Kumar Yadav also participated in the Cleanliness drive at Hyderabad Railway Station as a part of ongoing Swchhta Pakhwada. He inspected the Modern Mechanized Cleaning Equipment being used for Cleanliness of Station platforms, coaches etc. He also extensively checked the quality of eatables served at the Catering Stalls including the food plaza and waiting halls etc., to analyse the standards of maintenance. He also interacted with passengers to understand their view point and satisfaction levels with regard to Passenger amenities and Catering facilities.

Speaking to the media at the station during the inspection, the General Manager strongly conveyed the fact that Safety of Train Operations is the first and the most important priority for South Central Railway. This will be followed by Punctuality of train services, Passenger amenities etc. He stated that with all the senior officials of the zone are detailed to undertake Safety inspections of all trains and stations. The zone accords high priority towards preventive maintenance practices so as to analyse short comings and immediately rectify the same. Safety is a combination of technology and human competence, he stressed. Elaborating on the role of public towards Safety, the General Manager opined that the Road Users also should extend co-operation to Railways to negate any risk of unusual occurrences.

He called upon the Railway Staff to stringently follow asset maintenance norms, thereby ensuring that the Rolling stock is always fit for movement. Espousing the role of human resources, Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav said that counselling on Safety aspects is very important for the Loco Pilots, Station Masters, Gateman, Permanent Way Inspectors etc., he informed the media that the Railway Board has already taken a decision to start recruitment to fill vacant posts in all Safety categories.

In addition, during his address at the Safety Seminar, the General Manager gave full marks to the concept of Video recording of coach examination at the Hyderabad Coaching Depot, which enables analyse the videos for any short comings with regard to maintenance, cleanliness etc., besides keeping all the fittings in perfect condition. He added that the image of SCR as being in forefront of Passenger amenities and at the top position in terms of Passenger earnings and Punctuality puts more onus on the entire work force to adhere to the highest maintenance standards and give top priority to Safety.
