Harish Rao criticises Congress leaders

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao criticised CLP leader K Jana Reddy and Md Shabbir Ali for supporting Sridhar Babu. He questioned the Congress leaders for backing the ‘rowdy’ activity of Sridhar Babu in Peddapally.

In a statement issued here, Harish Rao asked whether the Congress leaders want farmer suicides to continue in the State. He said the government on one hand was trying to complete the projects on war footing by keeping in mind the long-term benefits but, the Congress leaders were roaming around courts filing litigations and now they tried to create disturbances at public hearings also.

The Minister said the public hearing was peaceful in all the eleven districts in the State. He said the government organised public hearing in the districts of Nalgonda, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Peddapally, Nirmal, Jagtial, Medak, Karimnagar, Yadadri, Medchal, Nizamabad and people have supported the project and urged the officials to complete the project quickly.

Harish Rao said the Congress leader Sridhar Babu obstructed the public hearing with 300 odd party workers. He said to stop the Congress leaders, the police had to arrest Sridhar Babu. Though the Peddapally Collector said he would give opportunity to talk, the Congress leaders did not listen and raised slogans of ‘KCR down down’ and stopped the public hearing for over half an hour.

Harish Rao said some of the Congress leaders had also given their views on the project in the meeting. Few opposition party leaders also welcomed the project construction and pledged their support, he added. He asked the farmers to question the Congress leaders, who were creating obstructions in the projects.
