Hyderabad: As part of crackdown on ‘illegal transportation of PDS (Public Distribution System) rice’, the Enforcement and Taskforce team has booked an offender under PD (Preventive Detention) Act, while some others are booked under 6A (confiscation of the essential commodity).

On Thursday, the Nalgonda District Collector Gaurav Uppal charged Chandrasekhar (50), resident of Hanuman Nagar, Devarakonda Mandal, Nalgonda district under PD Act.

According to officials, the accused is notorious for illegal transportation of PDS rice. In 2014 first case was booked against him for illegal ration rice transportation. Till now, he is booked under 16 (6A) cases - 6 criminal cases and 3 bind-over cases. So far, two of the offenders are booked under PD Act and some others are booked under 6A and criminal cases,” said Commissioner for Civil Supplies C V Anand.

On April 6, a four-wheeler of Chandrashekar was seized with 16.40 quintals of PDS rice. He was handed over to Devarakonda Deputy Tahsildar and 6A case was booked. In May, the Taskforce teams conducted raids at his residence in Hanuman Nagar, Devarakonda Mandal and farm house at Mahalaxmi Garden, Kalwakurthy Road, Deverakonda Mandal and seized 4.50 quintals and 18 quintals of PDS rice and booked two 6A cases against him.
