Hyderabad: On the eve of Bathukamma and Dasara festival, State government has decided to distribute saris to poor women. All the women above 18 years would get saris as gift irrespective of their caste, community or religion.

This decision was taken by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at a meeting held with officials on Friday. The sarees would be distributed through ration shops to a staggering 1,04,57,610 women on September 18, 19 and 20.

All the required stocks would be procured from Handloom and Power loom sectors to support the weavers and workers. The government had already introduced cloth distribution to poor during Ramzan and Christmas festivals.

The Chief Minister appealed to all MPs, Ministers, MLAs, MLCs and other public representatives to make the sari distribution programme a big success. The CM has asked the district Collectors to monitor and supervise the programme.

The saris would be distributed to beneficiaries through ration shops. Women should show their Aadhaar or voter identity card or any other identity card to avail the benefit.
