Hyderabad: Terming the land survey programme by TRS government as a time pass survey and farcical, the Telangana BJP on Monday said that it would stir up a hornet's nest.

Addressing a press conference at the party office in the city, BJP official spokesman Krishna Saagar Rao said the land survey programme would meet the same fate as the intensive household survey which the government had taken up soon after coming to power in 2014. “Telangana is spread across 1,12,078 sq meters, which means nearly seven crore acres of land. How the government will take up such a massive survey,” Krishna Saagar Rao wondered.

The BJP leader said that the survey was only to terrorise the farmers in the State. He said that the lands in the State were under various categories, some are under Pahanis and some were under agreement. He also took exception to the comments of the Chief Minister that the land records would be cleansed.

He asked whether the government’s intention was to rectify the errors in the land records or to destroy them completely. He said that the government was not in a position to do anything even on the encroachments in GHMC that takes place right under its nose.

The BJP leader took strong exception to the conduct of Rythu Samakhyas in the State. He lashed out at KCR for politicising the Rythu Samakhyas. How could a Minister be made in-charge of the farmers’ association, he questioned.

He said that in Gujarat, there were many Rythu Samakhyas but there was no government involvement in them. The associations which were under State and Central governments have never succeeded, he added. The BJP leader said that Chief Minister announces scheme after scheme only to divert the attention of the people.
