Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has been contemplating to take up two elevated corridors work from Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) to Shamirpet and from Paradise to Kompally in order to bring down traffic congestions.

According to HMDA official, once the two elevated corridors between JBS to Shamirpet and Paradise to Kompally are constructed the traffic problem would come down to some extent. A senior HMDA official said to take up elevated corridors the department had to acquire land as majority of the area is under the control of Defence.

The official said if HMDA takes up the project, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) funds would be utilised and added that the elevated corridors project is under the Roads and Building (R&B) department. HMDA Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu said the department had a written letter to the Central government requesting it to hand over the land for the elevated corridor work, as the area proposed is under Defence.

He said to take up the project work Central government should hand over the land to HMDA. He further said the Roads and Building (R&B) department officials would take up elevated corridors from Uppal to Ghatkesar.
