The Telangana government has decided to construct maternity hospitals at five places in the state with a cost of Rs 35 crore. Currently, there are 23 maternity hospitals in the state.

The Telangana government has decided to construct maternity hospitals at five places in the state with a cost of Rs 35 crore. Currently, there are 23 maternity hospitals in the state.

With Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's Kit scheme already being implemented in order to prevent unnecessary caesarian sections, the state government is focussing more on health and welfare of mother and child while providing facilities in government hospitals on par with corporate hospitals.

Following the approval of the suggestions put forth by the health department, the government has decided to construct the new maternity hospitals at Eturnagaram, Kamareddy, Manthani, Suryapet, and Achampet.

The hospitals will include 50 beds and each will be constructed at the cost of Rs. 7 Cr.
