GHMC making elaborate arrangements for Ganesh immersion: Mayor

Hyderabad: GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Thursday informed that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was making elaborate arrangements for the Ganesh immersion and final procession.

Speaking to media persons here, the Mayor said that the GHMC was coordinating with the Police, HMWSSB, Energy, HMDA and other departments for the smooth conduct of the festival. He said people could register their complaints on Dial 100 or at GHMC Call Centre on 040-21111111. He said that the grievances could also be brought to the notice of authorities through GHMC's Mobile App. He said that the GHMC Control Room would function on 24x7 till the end of Ganesh immersion.

Rammohan said all the roads where Ganesh processions would be taken out have been repaired and electrified. He said temporary platforms have been erected at Tank Bund, NTR Marg and Necklace Road for the immersion of Ganesh idols in Hussainsagar. He said 30 temporary toilets, including 10 for women, were being set up around Hussainsagar.

Besides Hussainsagar, similar arrangements are being made at 23 lakes in the GHMC limits. They include lakes at Kapra, Saroornagar, Meer Alam Tank, Hansmukhpet Talab, Alwal and Safeelguda. He said one Ganesh Action Committee has been constituted for every stretch of 3-4 km. Each Action Team will have one Sanitary Supervisor, 3 SAF and 21 other staff. He said a total of 168 teams would cover the stretch of around 388 km of GHMC limits.
