Hyderabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) would have solar bus shelters near the Metro Rail stations in the city.

The TSRTC officials had a meeting with the officials of Transport department and Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) authorities for discussing various issues including connectivity, smart card etc.

At the meeting, HMR MD N V S Reddy assured that the TSRTC would be given priority for bus connectivity to the Metro Rail. He said that as per the directions of Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao, efforts would be made for coordination between HMR and the TSRTC.

As part of this, solar bus shelters would come up near the Metro Rail stations. Apart from this, there would be provision for the bus bays for the convenience of the commuters. He said that tenders have been finalised for the construction of bus bays.

The officials also discussed on feeder services to link road connectivity with the Metro stations. In addition, they discussed design and development of smart card for the utilisation of the same in RTC buses, MMTS and Metro Rail services (Multi Model Transport Card). Facilities and provision of vehicle tracking, passenger information system in buses, preparation of Multi Model Transport Pass (MMTP) and percentage of revenue to be shared were also discussed.

RTC Chairman S Satyanarayana, MD G V Ramana Rao, Principal Secretary for Transport department Sunil Sharma, SCR DRM Sumit Sharma, GHMC Additional Commissioner Shankaraiah, ED Venu, and SPRM G R Kiran and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
