The IT Minister with the Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, performed Bhoomi Pooja for the construction of 6,264 two-bedroom houses at a cost of Rs 549 cr at Rampalli village limits in Medchal district.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, KTR said that plans are being made for house warming ceremonies of one lakh houses under the limits of GHMC by Dasara next year. ``State government aims to see Hyderabad as slum-free city. A total of 10,000 houses are under construction in slums. Selection process of beneficiaries will be made transparent.

The government is going to spend Rs 18,000 cr for construction of 2.65 lakh houses in the State,” he added. The Minister criticised the earlier governments for sanctioning single-room houses that couldn’t meet required amenities.

He also said works are being under taken for beautification of river Musi at a cost of Rs 1,665 cr. Mahender Reddy lauded the government for implementing several welfare schemes. He said, `House site pattas for two lakh beneficiaries have been distributed in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.

Malkajgiri MP Malla Reddy, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Medchal MLA M Sudheer Reddy, GHMC Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy, ZPTC members and MPTC members were present.
