Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad has directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and Revenue authorities to remove all illegal constructions made io land falling under Full Tank Level (FTL) of Kapra Lake in accordance with law as per the report submitted by the Registrar (Judicial) of the High Court in this regard.

The division bench comprising of acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice P Naveen Rao gave this direction on Friday while hearing a Public Interest Litigation petition filed by Save Our Urban Lakes (SOUL) in 2014 complaining of inaction of authorities in preventing illegal constructions in the FTL areas of the lake.

The court had earlier ordered the authorities to fix FTL in order to prevent illegal constructions and encroachments. The SOUL filed a contempt petition on this issue alleging inaction of the authorities in implementing the court orders. The division bench had directed the Registrar (Judicial) to make a ground level inspection and submit a report.

That report was submitted to the division bench on Friday and after perusing it, the bench directed the authorities to take steps in accordance with law to remove all illegal constructions made on lands falling under FTL of Kapra Lake.
