Monitor KLIP works every fortnight, babus told
Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao asked senior officials from BHEL to visit the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) once in every 15 days, to monitor the progress of erecting, testing and commissioning of pumps.
Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao asked senior officials from BHEL to visit the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) once in every 15 days, to monitor the progress of erecting, testing and commissioning of pumps.
Speaking at a review meeting with senior officials of Irrigation department and BHEL held here on Saturday, he asked them, to complete all necessary works by December, 2017, so that water can be pumped from Yellampalli to Mid Manair Project.
The minister said early completion of the project would bring credit to the project implementing agencies along with the government. Terming the “next three months would be crucial,” he asked the BHEL officials to depute two experienced supervisors at the pumping stations.
He asked the executing agencies to stick to the timelines and erect the water pumps as per the schedule, besides taking necessary steps in coordination with the Transco to complete the construction of substations. Kaleshwaram is not only meant for providing water for irrigation but also to supply drinking water to Hyderabad, Harish pointed out.
“It was proposed to link the project with Mission Bhagiratha so as to provide safe drinking water to the people of Hyderabad by the end of December 2017,” he said.
Senior engineers from the Irrigation department said that erecting of three pumps in the third stage of pumping station had been commissioned and one more would be commissioned in three days’ time. Following reports of malfunctioning of machinery supplied, the minister asked the BHEL officials to rectify the technical problems in the pump houses of the Koilsagar and Nettempadu projects.
Special Chief Secretary Irrigation S K Joshi, Engineer-in- Chief Muralidhar Rao, BHEL senior officials Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Rajeev Singh, Soundar Rajan and others were present.
