Eturnagaram: Two members of Karimnagar-Khammam-Warangal (KKW) Maoist Party division surrendered before Eturnagaram Assistant Superintendent of Police Rahul Hegde B K here on Saturday.

The duo was identified as Kore Ashok alias Suryam and his wife Kunjam Bhadramma alias Vijaya alias Padma. Ashok, a B.Sc graduate, is a resident of Ponugodu village of Gudur mandal of Mahabubabad district while Padma belongs to Kaligundam of Chinthur mandal in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

The ASP, giving details of the surrendered Maoists, said Ashok worked in Progressive Democratic Student Union and Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika before going underground in the year 2013 and worked in Yellandu-Narsampet Area Committee under the control of KKW secretary Damodar.

He also worked with Haribushan, the Maoist Party Telangana State Committee secretary. Later, he was promoted as Area Committee Member (ACM) of Yellandu-Narsampet area.

Padma went underground in 2012 and is now working as Deputy Commander of Manuguru area having the ACM status. The couple took part in the attack on Minapa Camp in 2013 and attacked CRPF force at Burkapad in 2017 besides few other offences.

The couple surrendered before the police as they were disillusioned with Maoist ideology and wanted to live a normal life. Any one of the underground cadres could surrender before the Police without any fear and they would be provided relief by the government, Rahul Hegde said. “I appeal to the Maoists to give up their outdated ideology and arms to join mainstream” he added.
