Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiyam Srihari has assured that the Telangana Government would soon fill nearly 16,000 Teachers' post in Telangana State.

Addressing the Teachers' Day celebrations in Warangal on Tuesday, the Deputy CM said that the State Government realises the importance of having good teachers in all schools and therefore, steps were being taken to fill all the vacant posts. He blamed the previous regimes for the poor standard of education in government schools and colleges. He said previous Congress and TDP Governments considered spending on education as a burden and therefore, they completely neglected the sector. However, he said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao gave high importance to imparting quality education to students.

The Deputy CM said that the State Government has established 525 residential schools for SC, ST, BC and minorities. He said that the number of government schools have also increased after TRS came to power in 2014. He said the enrolment in government schools has also increased during the last three years.

Kadiyam also informed that a new system would be adopted for selection of candidates for Best Teachers' Awards from the next year.

The function was also attended by MP P. Dayakar, Warangal ZP Chairman G. Padma, District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil and other officials.
