TRS cautions Dalits against Congress politics

Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Wednesday asked Dalit community to stay cautious against the politics of Congress party.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, TRS legislators K. Prabhakar and Rasmayi Balakishan alleged that the Congress party was wrongly linking the suicide attempt by two Dalit youth in Mankondur constituency with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and local MLA. Prabhakar said Balakishan has been striving hard for the welfare of Dalits in his constituency. He said it was wrong on the part of Congress party to link all incidents that occur anywhere in Telangana State with the TRS party.

Prabhakar alleged that the Dalits faced injustices and discrimination during the previous TDP and Congress regimes while TRS Govt has been taking several measures for their upliftment.

MLA Balakishan said he was highly pained with the Manakondur incident. He said one youth, M. Srinivas, had attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze while the other youth, Parshor Ramulu caught fire while trying to save him. He said he personally shifted both the youth in an ambulance to the hospital. He said the condition of both the youth was now stable. He claimed that so far, three acres of land was distributed among 910 Dalit families in Manakondur which is highest in the State.
