Hyderabad: UIDAI Regional Office Deputy Director General M V S Rami Reddy flagged off an Aadhaar Mobile Van here on Wednesday. The van has been introduced to provide Aadhaar services to senior citizens who are having difficulty due to their medical conditions, in approaching Aadhaar enrolment centres for availing Aadhaar services like enrolment and updating.

The van branded as ‘Aadhaar on Wheels’ will be operated by CSC e-Governance Services India Limited. Four such vans will run within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, and will exclusively cater to senior residents who are bed-ridden and having difficulty in mobility due to health conditions, according to an official release issued here. Similar facility will soon be available in Vizag and Vijayawada.

The release said it was one more initiative from the Centre to reach out to senior citizens living in metro-cities of Hyderabad in Telangana, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Similar drive was earlier conducted in rural areas by District Collectors with financial assistance from UIDAI Regional Office.

Senior citizens in Hyderabad, needing such enrolments at their doorstep can register their requirement by sending email to [email protected] or by calling 040-23119266. The requests will be maintained in a data base, and will be covered in a phased manner, area wise, and the dates.

When the van will come to their location will be informed to the residents. Aadhaar enrolment is a free of cost service whereas for any modification or correction of Aadhaar details, residents need to pay Rs 25 to the operator, according to the release.
