GHMC purchases pruning machine
Taking into cognisance The Hans India report, titled \'Cutting trees turns risky for GHMC workers\' on September 2, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) purchased pruning machine with an estimated cost of Rs 15.56 lakh and provided helmets to the tree cutting staff.
Hyderabad: Taking into cognisance The Hans India report, titled 'Cutting trees turns risky for GHMC workers' on September 2, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) purchased pruning machine with an estimated cost of Rs 15.56 lakh and provided helmets to the tree cutting staff.
The civic urban bio-diversity wing officials claimed that the civic body would also purchase five more machines for pruning. The officials said the civic body would ensure the safety of tree cutting staff and had instructed private contractors about the same.
GHMC risked the lives of about 500 workers, who were deployed by the civic body to tree branch pruning on the Ganesh immersion procession routes. The workers instead of using any safety gear were standing atop water tanks to cut trees.
