A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition has been filed by former DGP M V Bhaskar Rao and former cricketer Vivek Jaisimha against the proposal of constructing new Secretariat building at Bison Polo Ground and new Assembly building at Gymkhana Grounds by the Telangana State government.

As is known the government has got the Ministry of Defence clearance also for these projects in 33 acres of Bison Polo land and 22 acres of Gymkhana Grounds, presently vested with the Indian Army.

The petitioners contended that these lands are being used by the Indian Army to impart military training and sports to its new recruits. It was also pointed out that every year NCC training is conducted here only.

The people are also opposing these concrete structures coming up on these open lands that may also have adverse effect on the environment. Ministry of Defence, Secunderabad Cantonment Board, Defence Estate Officer and others have been made as respondents in the PIL petition, that will likely be heard on Tuesday.
