Hyderabad: Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy on Sunday said that TSRTC would use most of the 1,500 new buses for inter-state services.

The Minister launched bus service between Tandur town of Vikarabad district to Dantewada in Chhattisgarh State on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the corporation was running services on six inter-state routes.

He said services would also be launched to Raipur, Sironcha (Maharashtra) and Goa also. Apart from these, the buses are being operated to Vizag, Ongole, Kakinada and other places. With the new service, the State corporation now runs 560 services to neighbouring States. He recalled that the Government had extended a financial assistance of Rs 3,000 crore during the last three years to strengthen the corporation.

Later, the Minister unveiled the statue of Chakali Ilamma, on the occasion of her 32nd death anniversary, at Vijay Vidyalaya Vidyalaya Circle in Tandur town. Chakali Ilamma was a legendary person who fought the Nizam’s army for liberation of Telangana.

He called upon the people to strive to fulfil the dreams of freedom fighters and turn the State into a golden Telangana.
He recalled various measures introduced by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for the welfare of the washer man community.
