Hyderabad: Stating that GST meeting held in the State capital on Saturday was a big flop, Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy expressed concern saying that there was a chance of several industries being closed down due to the GST.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday on Assembly premises, Ponguleti said the outcome of GST meeting was disappointing. The Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely did not respond to the problems of beedi, handloom and granite industry workers. There was no mention of granite workers’ hunger strike going on in Khammam, the MLC said.

Reacting to the health condition of people in the State, Ponguleti said the Health Minister should visit Khammam hospital, where the patients were staying outside the hospital. Child deliveries were being conducted outside the hospital premises, he said.

“It is not proper on part of Health Minister C Laxma Reddy to say that the Congress leaders have no other work than throwing dirt on the ruling party,” he said, adding that there were no medical camps in Khammam and Bhadradri districts. Several people were in hospitals suffering from viral fevers, he said.
