Nagarjunasagar: Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav dropped the fish seedlings into Nagarjunasagar Dam here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Ministersaid through cage culture fishermen could get more quantity of fish than conventional fishing. “Government is encouraging the cage culture in the State with unit cost of 30 lakh to uplift the fishing community economically,” he informed.
Talasani released 2.60 lakh fishseed into Krishna water during the inauguration of cage culture unit on the day. He assured local fishermen that he would address the issues of Forest department objections and provide power boats for fishing.
The Minister said the scheme was aimed at boosting income of fishermen community. Stating that the community would get remunerative price for their fish produce in the open market, the Minister said government was making all efforts to set up market sheds in all districts and mandals.
Slamming the Congress and other opposition parties for finding fault with the scheme, Talasani said the scheme will be a boon to the fishermen community.
“The State government has launched several schemes to transform the state into Bangaru Telangana,” he said, adding that besides fisheries scheme, the department also launched sheep rearing scheme to boost income of Yadava community in a big way. The Minister further cited schemes like Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya and double bedroom scheme introduced by the government for the welfare of people in the State.
“Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao plans to provide housing facility to the poor, including one lakh in the city and more than one lakh in districts,” the Minister said.
