New Delhi: Special Representative of the Telangana government in Delhi, Ramachandru Tejavath, paid a courtesy call on the new Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, and urged her to establish a Sainik School for girls in Telangana so that a greater number of them could join the Armed Forces in future.

Congratulating the Minister on her new assignment, Tejavath, urged her to make NCC compulsory in all the schools in the country.

Referring to Hyderabad and Telangana where several defence manufacturing units were located, Tejavath, requested her to encourage the State play a key role by becoming a Defence products hub in the country with its expertise.

He also sought her cooperation in inducting the Telangana State Tableau in the coming R-Day parade so that the country would come to know of the rich cultural heritage of Telangana.

Explaining to her that the State's efforts to parade its tableau in the last two years were stalled, he hoped it would be cleared this year for the parade.

Tejavath also informed her of the key role he played as a bureaucrat in the Defence Ministry in the past and his contribution in clearing nearly 100 companies to invest in the country in the sector from 2005 onwards when the Government opened up the sector for private players.
