Hyderabad: The High Court has allowed the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) to undertake the exercise of scrutiny of certificates of Group II recruitment candidates to be called for interviews in the 1:3 ratio.

This interim direction was given by Justice C Praveen Kumar, who heard a batch of writ petitions challenging the inclusion of ineligible candidates’ names in the merit list of Group II examination results. Senior counsel M Surender Rao argued that the entire process of recruitment was riddled with loopholes as is evident from the inclusion of ineligible candidates in the merit list.

The TSPSC violated its own guidelines in evaluation of OMR marksheets by allowing those who have used whitener and made corrections in the answer sheets, in violation of the commitment it gave to the High Court that such candidates answer sheets would not be corrected. However, their names figured in the merit list.

Senior counsel Vidyasagar contended that there are only very few who have used whiteners and because of them entire process cannot be stopped. The judge directed the TSPSC to submit a list of such candidates who have used whitener or jumbled the answer sheets to the counsels for the petitioners.

He also directed that such OMR answer sheets must be produced before the Court. He refused to extend the stay granted earlier on the process of recruitment and allowed the scrutiny of certificates to go on. He adjourned the case to October 9.
