Hyderabad: Three Islamic State sympathisers who are under trial at the Chanchalguda Central Prison attacked the warder and other prison officials on Saturday.

The three undertrial high-security prisoners - Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani, his brother Mohammed Ilyas Yazdani and Ataullah Rahman were allowed for a mulakath (interview) with their family members on Saturday.

According to the police, around 12 pm, the families had come to Chanchalguda jail to meet the undertrials and had brought some dry fruits and other eatables. As the officials were checking the eatables, the trio was waiting at the gate in the prison to collect them after mulakath.

Warder Bharath Kumar opened the gate at 12.30 pm to take three other prisoners to take them to the court. At this point of time, Ibrahim, Ilyas and Ataullah moved towards the gate ignoring the warning of another warder K Sampath.

As Sampath asked them not to go towards the gate, the trio became aggressive and attacked him and other prison staff who tried to stop them.

However, the situation was brought under control before the situation went out of hand by using mild force. A case has been registered against the trio with the Dabeerpura police for injuring warder Sampath.

Dabeerpura Inspector D Venkanna Naik said basing on the complaint was lodged by Chanchalguda Superintendent Murali Babu, a case was registered under Sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 221 (intentional omission to apprehend on the part of public servant bound to apprehend), 34 of the IPC and Section 45 of Prisons Act.
