Heavy rainfall occurred at several places over Telangana during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday, as the Southwest Monsoon was normal over the State.

Hyderabad: Heavy rainfall occurred at several places over Telangana during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday, as the Southwest Monsoon was normal over the State.

The heavy rain was caused by the upper air cyclonic circulation over the west-central and north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of south Odisha and north Andhra. An east-west shear zone runs roughly along and the mean sea level (MSL). The upper air cyclonic circulation over Vidarbha and its neighbourhood has become less marked.

The trough from Odisha to south Tamil Nadu across coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema is persisting.The Met department bulletin said while nine cm of rain occurred in Achampeta of Mahbubnagar, Dharmasagar (Warangal) recorded seven cm. There was five cm of rain in Atmakur (Warangal) and four cm each in Bheemadevarpalle (Karimnagar), Kamareddy (Nizamabad), Mulug (Warangal), Domakonda (Nizamabad), Bejjanki (Karimnagar) and Zaffergadh (Warangal) 4.
