Hyderabad: The civic issues at Indira Park have turned shoddier withoverflowing drains, stinking toilets and pipeline leakages.Walkers and joggers claimed that the drainage leakage problem remained unsolved despite lodging several complaints with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

The stench emanating from the overflowing drains has been irking joggers for the past 20 days. The overflowing sewer water is flowing into the lake which was recently opened for boating. The water contamination lead to the death of fish present in the lake.

Regular jogger D Sandeep said, “Few wires are left unattended in the middle of the park and there are pits in the middle of the path due to which I fell down many times and got hurt. The slides are broken and few swings are unused for many days. Apart from that the men’s toilet stinks and there is no water in the toilets.”

N Priya said, “The ladies toilet door is broken and kept to a side in the corner and at times the toilets stink a lot.” A senior official from GHMC said, “We regularly keep cleaning the drainage system due to heavy rains the sewage was blocked. Toilets are regularly being repaired and people should also take an incentive and keep the toilets clean.”
