Old order changeth yielding place to the new’, goes the adage. In this era of globalisation and developing technology, people seem to have forgotten their roots from where they have grown. But as they say, time may come and go but the foundation which made you grow in life would remain as it is, waiting for you to come back and thank them once day for their contribution in your life.
Secunderabad: ‘Old order changeth yielding place to the new’, goes the adage. In this era of globalisation and developing technology, people seem to have forgotten their roots from where they have grown. But as they say, time may come and go but the foundation which made you grow in life would remain as it is, waiting for you to come back and thank them once day for their contribution in your life.
A teacher is one who provides strong foundation for better lives. This is one of the reasons why, the school is considered as the second home. K V Padmini, one of the oldest teachers in Secunderabad, who has dedicated 50 years of her life to the children of Keyes High School, is one such person who provided foundation of life to thousands of people over the years.
Padmini told The Hans India, “I joined Keyes High School in 1964. When I joined, there were only classes till 10th and a multi-purpose school (higher secondary education).” She further adds, “Secunderabad was densely populated and there was less pollution. But things have changed a lot now, many multiplexes have come up and also theatres.”
Padmini started her career at Keyes High School as School Assistant and now after her retirement in 1994, she has been part of the management of the school and now she is Hon Secretary of the school. As a teacher, Padmini taught Social Studies and English and found that the profession gave her solace and the opportunity to connect with the young minds. However, she says, she enjoyed every role given to her in her career. In her teaching career, she served two years as principal and two years as vice principal.
She was provided the ‘Outstanding Headmistress’ Award in 1994 by the school management, not only this, she also bagged the Lion’s Club Best Teacher’s Award and the Best Achiever’s Award presented by the Global Malyalee Association. For Padmini, Keyes High School and Secunderabad is her second home, as the city and the school molded her life and her personality, which she dedicated it for serving the cause of the society.
